For decades, the standard response to UFO sightings was ridicule. Then in December 2017, the New York Times published a story that changed the conversation permanently: the United States government had been running a secret program to investigate unidentified aerial phenomena since 2007. [1]

The Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP), funded with $22 million in black budget money, had been studying objects that demonstrated flight characteristics far beyond known technology -- hypersonic speeds with no visible propulsion, instantaneous acceleration that would kill any human pilot, and the ability to operate in air, water, and space.
